Notion Integration

Sync pages and databases from your Notion workspace. Content updates automatically when you make changes in Notion.

What's Synced

  • Pages and subpages
  • Databases and their entries
  • Text content, headings, lists, code blocks
  • Tables and database properties
  • Comments and discussions

Limitations

  • Images and files are not indexed (only alt text)
  • Embedded content from other apps may not sync
  • Private pages require explicit sharing

Connecting Notion

Start Connection

From Knowledge Base, click + Add Source → Notion.

Authorize in Notion

A Notion authorization popup will appear. Sign in to your Notion account if needed.

Select Pages

Choose which pages to share with RAG Chats. You can select:

  • Specific pages
  • Entire databases
  • Full workspaces (admin only)

Click Allow access to continue.

Configure Sync

Back in RAG Chats, configure sync settings:

  • Include subpages: Automatically sync child pages
  • Sync frequency: How often to check for updates

Initial Sync

Click Start Sync. The initial sync may take several minutes depending on content volume.

Adding More Pages

To add additional pages after initial setup:

  1. Go to your Notion integration settings
  2. In Notion, click ... on any page
  3. Select Connections → RAG Chats
  4. The page will be included in the next sync

Manual Sync

Trigger an immediate sync anytime:

  1. Go to Knowledge Base
  2. Find your Notion data source
  3. Click Sync Now

Best Practices

  • Start with specific pages: Don't sync your entire workspace. Start with documentation that's relevant to your bot's purpose.
  • Use clear page titles: Titles become document titles in search results.
  • Structure with headings: Use H1, H2, H3 to create clear document structure.
  • Keep content current: Archive outdated pages instead of leaving them active.

Troubleshooting

Authorization failed

  • Ensure you have admin access to the Notion workspace
  • Check that browser popups are allowed
  • Try signing out of Notion and re-authorizing

Pages not syncing

  • Verify pages are shared with the RAG Chats integration in Notion
  • Check that pages aren't archived
  • Wait for the next scheduled sync or trigger manual sync

Content out of date

  • Trigger a manual sync
  • Check sync status for errors
  • Verify Notion API isn't experiencing issues

Removing the Integration

To disconnect Notion:

  1. In RAG Chats, delete the Notion data source
  2. In Notion, go to Settings → Connections
  3. Find RAG Chats and click Remove
