Dropbox Integration
Sync files and folders from your Dropbox account. Changes are automatically detected and synced.
Supported File Types
- Documents — PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, RTF
- Spreadsheets — XLS, XLSX, CSV
- Presentations — PPT, PPTX
- Markdown — MD files
- Dropbox Paper — Full text extraction
Connecting Dropbox
Start Connection
From Knowledge Base, click + Add Source → Dropbox.
Sign in to Dropbox
Authorize RAG Chats to access your Dropbox. We only request read-only access to the folders you select.
Choose Folders
Select which folders to sync. You can choose multiple folders from different locations.
Configure Settings
- Include subfolders: Sync nested folder contents
- File filters: Include only specific file types
Start Sync
Click Connect to begin syncing. Initial sync time depends on the amount of content.
Dropbox Paper
Dropbox Paper documents are fully supported. All text content, headings, lists, and tables are extracted and indexed.
Paper Best Practices
Organize Paper docs in folders alongside regular files. They'll be synced together automatically.
Dropbox Business
For Dropbox Business accounts:
- Connect using your business credentials
- Access team folders you have permission to view
- Sync shared folders from team members
Sync Behavior
- New files: Automatically added on next sync
- Updated files: Re-processed when content changes
- Deleted files: Removed from knowledge base
- Moved files: Updated if still in synced folder
Best Practices
- Organize in dedicated folders: Keep knowledge base content separate from other files
- Use descriptive names: File names become searchable
- Archive old content: Move outdated files out of synced folders
Troubleshooting
Connection fails
- Check Dropbox credentials are correct
- Ensure browser allows popups
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting
Files missing
- Verify files are in selected folders
- Check file types are supported
- Wait for sync to complete
Removing the Integration
- Delete the Dropbox data source in RAG Chats
- Optionally, revoke access in Dropbox settings under Connected apps
